The Indian Visa Application Centre IVAC Colombo, Kandy and Jaffna is officially authorized by the High Commission of India, Colombo, Srilanka to accept applications for all categories of visas, collect visa application charges and returning passports to applicants. In addition, the Indian Visa Application Centre arranges the time and date of the interview, required by the High Commission of India.

Please note there is no change in the Indian immigration rules. All applications will be assessed and decided by the visa and immigration office at the High Commission of India Srilanka, in accordance with the Indian immigration legislation and policy.

The Indian Visa Application Centre is run and managed by VFS Lanka Pvt Ltd. VFS provides the visa application support service only. Staff members of VFS have no power or influence over the outcome of an application. The decision to issue or refuse a visa is made solely by the officers at the High Commission of India. VFS's role is entirely impartial. VFS staff will provide the visa information but they cannot and will not offer immigration advice.

It remains our commitment to ensure the integrity of our visa process. Any applicant submitting false documentation or other information in support of their application may be refused a visa and the matter maybe referred to the local authorities.

The online visa application system will be started from 25th March 2011. The downloadable versions will no longer be available on the website after this date. It is mandatory to complete all applications through the new system before submission at the India Visa Application Centers.

For Prospective Applicants
  Applicants who wish to apply for a Visa are requested to kindly read the information on this site carefully. The guidelines listed on this site are to help you prepare your documents as accurately as possible. This will reduce the chances of your application being incomplete or not being processed.

Please note that you may be required to appear before a Visa Officer for a personal interview at High Commission of India.

Processing Time:
  Processing Time will be minimum of 3 working days (excluding day of submission at VFS) for all the Visa categories (Expect for the Employment and Conference Visa.

In the following cases, processing of application will take longer. (Minimum 5 working days)
 
Sri Lankan nationals with Resident visa of some other country.
Applicants not resident in Sri Lanka for at least 12 months prior to date of application.
Business & Employment Visa applicants must be residents of Sri Lanka for at least 2 years.
Where clearance from India is mandatory.
Visitors to restricted/protected areas. (Details available on our website).
Certain cases where documents need to be verified.
Visa applications of non-resident foreign nationals will be entertained for short term Tourist visa (3 month/single entry). They are advised to obtain long term Tourist visas and other categories of visas from the country of their origin.

However, in some cases the procedure may take considerably longer.
 
VISA APPLYING PROCESS
Step 1 : Click, All About Visas. Confirm the visa type based on your reason for travel; do not make any confirmed bookings
Step 2 : Complete your application online . Please note that on and after 25th March 2011, no previous versions or handwritten forms will be available on the website or accepted at any of the India Visa Application Centers.
Step 3 : The application has been completed online you must download & print all form/s, read and complete Checklist
Step 4 : Check fees payable, and documents required. All such details can be found in the respective visa categories under the section All About Your Visas.
Step 5 :  Sign form/s at all indicated places
Step 6 :  Ensure photos are strictly as per specifications
Step 7 : Attach all supporting documents required as per the Checklist. Make sure your application is complete. Incomplete applications cannot be accepted.
Step 8 : Submit your Application along with the passport and required documents at any of our India Visa Application centres in Srilanka by person to the respective Jurisdiction.
Step 9 : Please ensure you read the security regulation notices before you visit the visa application centres/High Commission of India.
